Welcome to the Georgia Electrologists Association (GEA). We are a professional membership organization dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in the permanent hair removal industry. Our mission is to:

Georgia electrologists are allied health professionals with formal credentials, including a minimum of 600 hours of training, ensuring clients receive safe and expert care.

ELECTROLOGIST CERTIFICATIONS, CREDENTIALS, AND DEFINITIONS

(GEA REQUIRES 600 HOURS OF TRAINING)

  • Certified Professional Electrologist (CPE)
  • Certified Clinical Electrologist (CCE)
  • Licensed Electrologist (LE)

A Certified Professional Electrologist or Certified Clinical Electrologist is one who has paid to sit for a specialized, registered, and closely governed examination, and by passing with high marks, has earned the right to use the designation, “Certified Professional Electrologist”, (CPE), or “Certified Clinical Electrologist”, (CCE).

A Licensed Electrologist is a designation given by states that have licensure requirements for Electrologists in that state. Once a person sits for the state exam and passes with high marks, they have earned the right to use the designation of “Licensed Electrologist”, (LE).

These are the only Electrology certifications recognized in the Electrology profession.

There are no certifications or licensures in the Electrology profession for “master, expert, or specialist”.

A Legacy of Service and Leadership

Voncille V. Burdette, CPE, CI devoted more than 40 years of her life to the field of electrology, serving as a true pioneer and steadfast leader. Her career was marked by sacrifice, integrity, and an unwavering belief in the dignity and confidence electrology restores. She served as President of the Association from 2004 to 2025, providing over two decades of faithful leadership that helped shape professional standards, education, and mentorship within the field.
Though now retired, Voncille’s legacy endures through the practitioners she guided, the foundations she helped build, and the countless lives impacted by her commitment. We honor her with deep gratitude and respect—as a trailblazer, servant leader, and cornerstone of our association’s history.

The American Electrology Association (AEA), established in 1958, is the largest international nonprofit membership organization for permanent hair removal professionals. The AEA promotes the highest standards in Electrology education, practice and ethics and champions state licensing and regulation of the profession to protect the public interest. The American Electrology Association plays a key role in providing reliable and scientifically accurate information to its membership, the public, the medical community and government agencies.
